From September 14, a European sports forum will start in Ruse under the Sports for Green Deal project, funded under the Erasmus program of the EC. It will last until September 19. Ruse Municipality is the main coordinator of the project, in which it partners with orienteering, triathlon, dragon boat and athletics clubs from 10 countries. The large-scale sports initiative is organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Academy, the European Outdoor Sports Network (France) and the University of Ruse.
Athletes from 10 countries have cofirmed participation in the competitions - Germany, Turkiye, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Czech Republic, Malta, Lithuania, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. Sports clubs from Ruse - SC "Dalian", SC "Compass-Cross" and SC "Lokomotiv" are included in the individual disciplines.
The sports event will be opened on September 14 at 2 p.m. with a conference on "Sports for the Green Deal", which will be held in the "St. Georgi" in the Ruse Municipality's building. The following day, at 10:00 a.m., races in the 500m "Dragon Boats" discipline will start on the lake in the Lipnik Forest Park, and after the final, a demonstration of the attractive vessels will take place. A seminar "Eco-responsibility in sports" I is planned for the afternoon. From 17:00 and 17:45 in the Youth Park in Ruse, competitions in orienteering and athletics running will begin.
On the third day of the event, at 11:00 a.m., the "Dragon Boats" discipline will once again start on the lake in the Lipnik Lesopark, and an orienteering competition will also start a little earlier. From 14:00 to 17:00 in the "Culture" hall (at "Tsaribrod" 3) a seminar "Eco-responsibility in sports" will be held, and the culmination of that day will be the concert of the bulgarian singers Billy Hlapeto and Demo and the world-famous rap artist from the 90s NANA. It will take place at 8 p.m. on the central square in Ruse.
On September 18, a seminar on the topic "The empowering power of outdoor sports and physical activity" and a workshop "Challenges and solutions" will be held in the "Culture" hall, and at 6 p.m. an exhibition of the best photos from the photo contest will be opened. I love movement."
The organizers of the sporting event aim to inform and build the capacity and engagement of the wider sporting community to become greener and share common social and environmental values.
