On January 20 and 21, the two-day introductory meeting of the Sports for Green Deal project, under the Erasmus Sport program, took place in the building of the Ruse Municipality. It was attended by Deputy Mayors Encho Enchev and Zlatomira Stefanova, Ivaylo Kadishev - Director of the "International Policies, Economic Activities and Analyzes" Directorate, employees from the "International Cooperation and Projects" Department and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports - Iliana Hristova , director of the European Programs, Projects and International Cooperation Directorate and Teodora Sarakostova, state expert.

Assoc. Dr. Desislava Atanasova was also present at the meeting - deputy. rector of RU "Angel Kanchev" and Dr. Valeri Yordanov - head of the "Physical Education and Sports" department at the university, as well as the chairmen of SC "Triathlon-Dalian", SC "Compass-cross" and SKKC "Lokomotiv"-Ruse.

Prof. Daniela Dasheva and Assoc. Petar Yankov from NSA and the European Network of Outdoor Sports, as well as representatives of the triathlon, dragon boat and orienteering disciplines from Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia and Germany took part via video conference. The moderator of the event, Emilia Petkova, an expert from the Municipality of Ruse, read a congratulatory address from the rector of Vasil Levski National Academy of Sciences, Prof. Nikolay Izov.

The Municipality of Ruse is the main beneficiary on the project and will partner with orienteering, triathlon and dragon boat sports clubs from 10 countries, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Academy, the European Outdoor Sports Network (France) and the University of Rousse.

Within 12 months, the consortium will work to raise public awareness of the role of community-based outdoor sports activities through a pan-European sports event, many training materials, communication activities and competitions.

In the final part of the meeting, the partners agreed that the main event of the project will be held in September at Lake Lipnik in the village of Nikolovo.
